La lithosph\u00e8re est d\u00e9finie notamment comme une couche limite \u00e0 la convection.<\/p><p>Les mouvements horizontaux de la lithosph\u00e8re ont des cons\u00e9quences tectoniques (rifts, dorsales, marges passives&#8230;).<\/p><p>L&#8217;isostasie correspond \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quilibre vertical de la lithosph\u00e8re sur l\u2019asth\u00e9nosph\u00e8re selon le principe d&#8217;Archim\u00e8de. Cet \u00e9quilibre dynamique peut \u00eatre source de mouvements verticaux. La mod\u00e9lisation des \u00e9tats d\u2019\u00e9quilibre permet de proposer des interpr\u00e9tations des reliefs, que les donn\u00e9es gravim\u00e9triques valident ou questionnent. La notion d&#8217;anomalie gravim\u00e9trique est construite \u00e0 partir des anomalies \u00e0 l&#8217;air libre et de Bouguer. L\u2019anomalie de Bouguer t\u00e9moigne de la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019exc\u00e8s ou de d\u00e9ficit de masse en profondeur. Les anomalies gravim\u00e9triques permettent de discuter des variations altitudinales inaccessibles \u00e0 l\u2019observation directe ou \u00e0 travers d\u2019autres instrumentations.<\/p><p>Les variations spatiales de petite longueur d\u2019onde du g\u00e9o\u00efde marin permettent de rep\u00e9rer les reliefs sous-marins.<\/p><p>Les mouvements lithosph\u00e9riques sont mod\u00e9lis\u00e9s par le d\u00e9placement de plaques (coquilles rigides) \u00e0 la surface de la Terre.<\/p><p>Une marge active montre des signatures g\u00e9omorphologiques, g\u00e9ophysiques et p\u00e9trologiques. Les dorsales sont l\u2019expression en surface des remont\u00e9es du syst\u00e8me convectif et permettent la cr\u00e9ation de cro\u00fbte oc\u00e9anique.
